CARING for diabetes in children and adolescents is a challenging task for families and their health professionals. Education and knowledge are essential elements in being able to look after your child’s diabetes each day and in special situations. This site aims to provide this information for you. It will help you revise and build on your knowledge from your diabetes education‚ and also serve as a ready reference when new situations arise.

While teaching will differ slightly between different diabetes centres‚ this site has been written by health professionals from major children’s diabetes centres in Australia: therefore it reflects our common approach and practice.
This second edition includes significant revisions and updates‚ particularly on insulin therapy and food and healthy eating. New sections are included on type 2 diabetes and there is also an introduction to insulin pump therapy.
Parents, grandparents, friends and other carers, as well as young people with diabetes, will find this site useful. We hope it helps you.
Please note: The information in this site has been carefully checked and is believed to be accurate. If you are unsure of whether any particular information is appropriate or applicable to your child‚ you should check with your diabetes team first.
Brand names or trade names are used for clarity in places throughout the site. It is recognised that these are the registered property of the respective companies.
